Question:
Can a needle go through a balloon without popping it?
Hypothesis:
Room 21 decided that:
“Yes I think so if there is something like detergent to
block the hole.”
Equipment:
Balloons
Long needle
(meat skewer)
Dishwashing
liquid
Method:
1. Blow up a
balloon and then tie it up tightly.
2. Put
dishwashing liquid on the needle.
3. Put
dishwashing liquid on the balloon.
4. Stick the
needle through the balloon carefully. The results are…the balloon bursts like a
volcano bursting.
CONCLUSION!
My hypothesis appeared to be
wrong.
Next step:
Do some
more research to find a better way to
test our hypothesis.
After
looking at the experiment on youTube, we have decided to rub the oil into the
stick for at least 1 minute and only
blow the balloon up to a medium size.
We’ll
keep you posted and let you know what happens.
