Science Experiment - Procedural Text.

Question:
Can a needle go through a balloon without popping it?
Hypothesis:
Room 21 decided that:
“Yes I think so if there is something like detergent to block the hole.”
Equipment:
Balloons
Long needle (meat skewer)
Dishwashing liquid
Method:
1. Blow up a balloon and then tie it up tightly.
2. Put dishwashing liquid on the needle.
3. Put dishwashing liquid on the balloon.
4. Stick the needle through the balloon carefully. The results are…the balloon bursts like a volcano bursting.
CONCLUSION!
My hypothesis appeared to be wrong.
Next step:
Do some more research to find a better way  to test our hypothesis.
After looking at the experiment on youTube, we have decided to rub the oil into the stick for at least  1 minute and only blow the balloon up to a medium size.

We’ll keep you posted and let you know what happens.

My reflection about my speech - by Mary-Anne
I have thought about my dad many times, so I thought I could write about him and when the speeches came up I knew it was the right time.
I think that my speed and ideas were the best things about my speech because I used them in the right places.
I think that I could work on looking at the audience, using my expression, and maybe I can work on my posture and stop moving.
When I did my speech I forgot to introduce myself but it doesn’t matter, I’m just proud that I got a speech done because last year I didn’t accomplish my goal to say my speech to the class.

My special person by Mamia

My special medals by Liam

Tena koutou.  I am going to do a speech about something that is special to me.
The taonga that are special to me are these medals I got them from my nana's mum. Nana’s mum got these medals from my great grandfather who fought in the Korean War. Mum said I'll need to get married and if I get a boy I could give these medals to him. Mum said she will keep them as safe as safe can be. I'll need to help too and instead of slacking off and being lazy, I’ll have to pull my weight.
My great grandfather was only 20 years old when he went to Korea and was 22 when he came home. He was bitten by a snake and became very sick from that. He also was bitten by a mosquito and ended up in hospital again, very sick with malaria which a lot of soldiers got. My great grandfather survived those things and died in 2004 at the age of 74.
